I just hooked up my Icelink plus in my 04 jetta. The sound is awesome. Only a few things bothered my about Dension.

#1 Bad Cust Service. I ordered on a Friday morning, went out and bought a new size ipod so I had to change the order. I called back but the CSR who took my order left, and the new CSR wouldn't fix it. He said wait until the CSR returned on Monday. I called Monday but the CSR didn't get in until 10am pacific time. Again, the new CSR would not fix it. By the time my CSR got in they had already shipped.

#2 The cord for the ice link was only 3 feet long. I wanted to mount my ipod in my center console. I had to make my own extension cable using a 8 pin mini din cable. Not a big deal, but time consuming.

Other than that I love this thing. So much better than a tape adapter or itrip. I post pics later.

Yes please do and also report on the "new" menu functions - how many playlists can you access? Can you also access the menu on the ipod and choose playlists from there as well?

From what I can tell you can acess all of your playlists. Presents 1-5 are the first 5, then 6 lets select others.

Unfortunatly, you can't access the menu on the ipod Via the ipod when connected (saftey precation). However, you can set the playlist you want on the ipod, then plug it in (found out by accident).

I wonder if this (no access to ipod from ipod itself) is the same for the ice link v 1.1 - I'll be having it installed this week in my MINI

leonowj9,

Thanks for your review and am considering getting this kit. I went to the dension usa site and specfically asked about the cable length because I am planning to put the ipod in the center console ('05 S2000). The rep "curtis" said it would reach and to call to get answers to my other questions. I called but did not receive a call back (don't know if they do this) so I added another reply/question on the webboard. No replies this time! I'm not suer that the cable will be long enough, and I was wondering if the DIN cable was an off the shelf part?

W/ the icelink you are supposed to be able to have the option of using the clickwheel..It even says it on the box...I just got everything installed yesterday...but I am waiting for my replacement IPod to come next week...I brought my girlfriends down to the garage, and it only lets me select disc 1-5..6 doesn't seem to do anything...I have the icelink that works w/ Sony decks (M9905X)...

The Dension ICE Link 1.1 does not offer the optional playlist interface control as found in the ICE Link Plus v2.0. According to Dension's site, you should be able to reboot the iPod to utilize the iPod interface instead of Dension's interface with the 2.0 kit.
