Ever since I've gotten into this "Nu-Metal" music as some people like to call it, I've heard people bash this band as though they are the devil. However, I find their songs quite catchy and *shutter* have even considered purchasing one of their albums. Their single "Break Stuff" is a great song to listen to when you just need to blow off some steam, and "My Way" is a good slow song. "Rollin'" and "Nookie" are lyricly silly, but musicly they are quite catchy. Sure Fred might use the F word a few too many times, but so does Eminem and he hasn't gotten anywhere near the criticism that these guys have. I also enjoy most of the music by the bands who are on Fred's label.
As mentioned previously, I was considering purchasing one of their albums, but I've held off because of the generally negative reviews and I couldn't decide between Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish since they both have songs I like. Chocolate Starfish, in particular, seems to have been especially lambasted. I think the title is silly, but I like the singles I've heard.
So what do you guys think? Are the haters exagerating or should I forget I ever admited that I liked this band?
Thanks for any info.

you should listen to whatever appeals to you, limp bizkit doesn't to me but i'm not going to judge a person who listens to it because they like it. if you listen to it to be "cool" i have no respect for you whatsoever. if you think the music is good, listen to it. don't be scared away by people who don't like it and therfore say bad things about it. anyway most of the people who say they hate them say so beacuase they hate fred durst, but if you can get beyond that and enjoy their music, go for it
btw. i actually used to listen to limp bizkit and nu-metal (and metal for that matter), but i got turned on to a different kind of music and i'm not ashamed of my metal roots :)

I also think Limp Bizkit blows but I agree with loki. My opinion makes no difference here. Listen to what moves you. It's that simple. If you really dig "Break Stuff" & "Nookie" you MUST face the fact, as sad as it may be, that you are indeed a Limp Bizkit fan and you would most likely enjoy the rest of the album. You might even like Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water as well (For the record, that has got to be one of the worst album titles in music history).
So, go forward with your $17.99 in hand, plunk it down and purchase that Limp Bizkit album with pride because all that matters is the music that rocks your world. RAWK ON!!!

Gotta back loki up on this one... Listen for yourself, not for cool factor.
Hell, I openly admit that a LOT (actually, probably "most") of my iPod is classical, a capella, classical guitar, diverse world music, and really odd humorous songs. I have a bit real rock (lots of pink floyd), some alternative and a *little* pop. If I listened to stuff so that if people were to overhear it they'd think I were cool, I'd be in my own little musical hell ;-)
FWIW, though... I have a couple Limp Bizkit songs. (Hot Dog is SO FUNNY!)

I'm not going to listen to them to be cool or anything. I am curious why everyone seems to hate them so much. I've heard a lot of people say that Limp Bizkit is the worst band of all time and to listen to Linkin Park or Korn instead. I am also curious about what the rest of their albums sound like. Some people say that the singles off Chocolate Starfish are great but the rest of the album is crap. I'm not going to pay for an album with four good songs and 9 filler songs. What do you guys think?

i would get started by getting the album that came out before Starfish (sorry but i forgot the name of it... shows you how long its been since i listened to it). i seem to recall it being a good album overall. as far as Chocolate Starfish, find a friend who has it and listen to it, see if you like it.
to answer why people hate them so much, like i said alot of people think that fred durst is the biggest a-hole out there and are going to hate any music that he puts out. other people just don't like their sound i guess. it all comes down to personal preference

Why do I hate Limp so much? This should be fun.
I can't stand Durst's voice...or lack therof. I can't stand Durst's lyrics. He rhymes like a frat boy. I can't stand the mindless testosterone pumped machizmo vibe - Durst is a midget with an attitude. Fred, wanna know how to intimidate? See Henry Rollins!
Musically I find them really uninteresting - with the exception of Nookie which is actually a pretty good song. Lastly, I like bands that just go out and rock! Durst is too starved for attention & his association with little pop princesses like Britany Spears and Christina Aguilera is a joke. Durst is just such an attention whore.
Those are the glaring reasons I can't stand Limp Bizkit.
For perspective: When I want to rock I listen to Jane's Addiction, Fugazi, Nebula, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Pixies, The D4, and on occaision Metallica, Ministry or The Cult.

If you want to listen to them when they actually kicked ###, grab "3 dolla bill ya'll." That's a great album. Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish are complete garbage. Fred tried to sound like a big shot on Sig. Other, and he put together a joke of a record on Choc. Starfish.
Limp Bizkit's days are numbered. Ever since the band lost its only decent member, they're stumbling for a sound and direction. Give it up Fred, you're rich enough.

Alright, now I'm torn between 3 Dolla Bill and Significant Other.
I don't know about their new single "Eat You Alive." I find it very bland for some reason. I wonder how their next album will do.

Hmmm, I grew out of Limp Bizkit a few years ago, but still, Nu-Metal is a very respectable movement in music, albeit a very artificial one...

i hate limp bizkit for the same reason someone else posted. fred durst. i remember working in a music store when the bizkit was in their prime, and seeing some jock/frat boy with a backwards red cap and a limp bizkit shirt would make most of the employees laugh or shake their heads.
one employee was a bit of a grouch, and would regularly tell them to go the mall if these guys ever asked a question. we'd all snicker and go back to filing albums away.
of course, we also made fun of a kid wearing an exploited t-shirt and doc martins with white and red laces. this kid was following just as much a trend as the durst wanna bes, but we really wanted to tell him what wearing docs with those lace colors really meant. he was 13 or 14, and probably had no clue.

I guess this thread was a pretty stupid idea on my part. I am not a huge Bizkit fan by any means, I just like some of their stuff.

Fred Durst got a bad name by some people, and then nobody liked them... people follow others to be 'cool'... I was at the Metallica Summer Sanitarium (limp bizkit played too)... Nobody did anything when limp bizkit came on... a few people started cheering, then everyone cheered... The opposite happened a few days later at the same concert in a different place... one person started to boo, and then everyone booed... they were booed off the stage...
Their songs aren't bad, I just dislike how they use their band name in EVERY song... Also, the song faith is a good one, with a nice beat, but they ruined it by swearing it to pieces...

Sorry to get off topic, but how was the show? How were the other acts and which was your favorite? If you don't want to answer that's fine, but I was just curious since that show was in my area back at the beginning of July. Darn, this summer has gone fast!

If I was forced to buy a limp bizkit album I would get three doller bill ya'll. It is the only good one if you can call it that. Enjoy!

I went to the sanitarium concert in Toronto, Canada. I just chatted with some people I met in the line during LB's set.
I went to see Metallica, not a fake band with no talent. Rhyming words isnt talent.

I Agree Metallica is the only band that has any talent nowadays.
They can actually play their instuments unlike 75% of the "hip" music which is sampled.

Metallica the only band with talent thesedays? Wow. That's a bold statement considering their new album sounds like poop. The songs are totally fragmented and those have got to be the worst drum tones I've ever heard. Don't know what Bob Rock was thinking there.
A great live band they are though. Although they play every show EXACTLY the same way EVERY night even to the point where James says the same exact phrases between songs. They stick mercilessly to their formula and it works well for them.

Well...I own Chocolate Starfish...and it's the only LB album I own. I bought it used, though. There are a few songs I like and not much else...but even in the songs I like, I notice that it's the BEAT I like, but nothing else. The lyrics are always completely stupid, IMHO.

Limp Bizkit how bad are they?
They are really bad.
But at least they can say, they are better than Linkin Park.
And they would be right.
Just like anyother music playing on the radio 5 years (or less) down the road you will say to yourself, "oh-my god I can't believe I bought their cd's god they suck" LP is made for 16 year olds, who just don't know any better. Cant see why anyone would want to buy "Mediocre " I mean "Meteora".
Don't let radio DJ's shove crap pop music down your throat.
Throw out your radio and listen to some real music.
Try...
Flaming Lips
Doves
Beta Band
Blur (there is more than song 2)
Built to Spill
Spoon

I personally don't like them but they have a couple of songs that are pretty good. I'd save your money and flip over to iTunes, download those songs you do like, and be off.

Supposedly their new album, Results May Vary, is pretty offle. At least Linkin Park can sing about something other than sex or the F word.

There's no supposedly about it...jeez, and I for the most part enjoyed the previous two albums. Listening to this recent one, I ended up looking to see when it was going to be over more than to see what song was on.

Wasn't Fred Durst a regular (as a kid) on Sesame Street?

Ok.. 3 dollah bill yalll was a good album... just because it was different.. I think the musicians of Limp Bizkit are incredible. The album afterwards was somewhat OK..I bought it.. enjoyed it and moved on but Choco starfish was an insult.. The title of the album alone felt like LB disrespected its fan and Fred with is Hollywoodish antics and constant banters completely turned me off. He started to look like a parody of himself.
The music now just seems like dumb frat boy wiggerish jock rock now.
I am sticking to Bands Like Tool, Korn (sort of), Chili Peppers, even Kid Rock still has it to me..
