I am thinking about changing the "do not disconnect" screen of my ipod. but i am a little sceptical about it because i dont want to mess anything up. If I WERE it mess it up, would it be reversible? and if so, why would it void my warranty if you can put it back to normal?
The only way you might be able to do this is by installing a hacked version of Apple's firmware that contains a small distro of linux. If you know your way around linux, you shouldn't have too much trouble hacking the "do not disconnect" screen. Otherwise, there really isn't any way to do so. Sorry, Apple's really protective of their intellectual property.

you can easily hack the images in the apple firmware... i've seen at least 2 threads about this and have done it myself.
no linux knowledge needed.

SirGeoph is right. There's a program called iPod Wizard that lets you do it easily.I think you can just restore the iPod.

don't even have to restore the ipod and lose your music... theres a text file on the ipod you can use to make the ipod think it has a lower version firmware. then when you go to "update" it with the hacked firmware, it gives you the upgrade option.

yeah i've read all that, but i want to know if I can "reset" and if after i reset it, will my warranty be void? i dont really understand how chaning the firmware voids the warranty if you reset it and there are no hardware changes. I really want to make SOMETHING different on my ipod seeing as everyone has them, but i got it a couple weeks ago and i dont want to void the warranty and it messing up, leaving me ipodless..
