every place on the net says they're sold out...lord only knows when they'll be back in stock. There's one on ebay but they want $40 for it + shipping which is way too much. Any retail stores that might possibly carry it (yea right) ?

hey there, i was looking around for the sik imp myself for a while, but then decided to get the sendstation pocketdock w/ line-out instead. But i just saw this, if you go to amazon.com they have 2 of them i think as of a few hours ago. And there's that one on ebay from Australia that is like 35 bucks plus 10 bucks or something to ship it to the US.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the seller at amazon says "Availability: Usually ships in 3-4 weeks", so it looks like they have it on backorder like everyone else. I might have to look into this pocketdock though. How is the sound quality, and is it compatible with 4th generation ipods?

the pocketdock will have the exact same sound quality at the sik imp, they are both just 'line-level' sources. At first, i wanted the sik imp because it was a line-out and a car charger all in one. I was going to wire another cigarette lighter on the inside of my dash and plug the sik imp in there, cuz i hate wire clutter and i didn't want some big curly wire dangling around all the time. But then i realized i'm going to be bringing my ipod in the house 1-2 times a week at least to update the songs on it... so a full time charger isn't something i necessarily needed. So i decided to get the Sendstation Pocketdock. Its a about 1inch by 1inch little square adaptor that plugs into the dock connector of 4th gen ipods. It has a 'line-in' input, as well as a firewire input. Now at first i got it just for the line-in and thought what the hell would i need the firewire for... then realized i could get a Firewire Car Charger and just leave it in my glovebox, for incase i ever desperately needed to charge the ipod too on a long drive or something. So this way, i didn't have to do too much custom wiring work and stuff, and there's no cables dangling. I can just plug the charger in for a little bit if i ever need to, but it doesn't always have to be there. hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll have to make sure my 1 ft. cable can reach with the added 1 inch at the bottom, but I think I'm gonna get me one of these.
