If it is under your consent... then I think it's OK.

i listened to most of what you had there and i'll be honest here:
most of it sucks.
you need to get a better grasp on arranging and composing. in almost all the ones i listened to, you had a good melody/beat/sample that was catchy, but then it lasted for about 10 seconds and you totally shift into another direction, only to be shifted again in a short amount of time.
sometimes simpler is better. seems like you're trying to make things overcomplicated. this makes your music sound "pieced" together instead of a nice flow of transitions (if you need to have them).

I create all my music using a Mac computer and the program called Garage Band. I use a keyboard and live mic for harmonica. n3tfury say:i listened to most of what you had there and i'll be honest here:

Thanks for your review, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would agree with you. My art training is mostly in visual art, however I have left the visual field and entered music as it is much faster to create and I love music.
If you don't like my music I assure you there are plenty of other artists that are far more talented in music than I am at MacIDOL.com
Most of the artists at MacIDOL release their music free.
My music ain't the greatest stuff to listen to in the world, but it is legal and free!

like i said, i liked some of it, i was just giving you my .02 on how you can improve those that i liked. i do give you kudos for giving a go at creating music though. didn't mean to come off too harshly.

I checked out your petition... I agree apple needs to make a change for the rest of the world... I'd sign it if you take signitures from the US....
I checked your link to GarageBand.com Does that site only want people that create music and upload through a Windows PC?
The music I make on my G5 Mac comes out in aiff format, however for people with Windows PC's we make it downloadable in mp3 format.

not sure about this one. i signed up to review stuff and have bought 5 cd's in the past 2 weeks since i've been going there. i DO know that at least two of the artists that i bought cd's from did all their recording on Macs, so i'm sure it doesn't make a difference what your OS is.
you should at least sign up and do some reviews and check out some new music, you'll be surprised, i was.

Just ignore him - That was incredibly rude to say.
While you might not be a professional (you probably would not be giving away music if you were), you are doing some impressive things there.
EXCELLENT work for what you are trying to accomplish especially with the limited tools.
Just remember: We all start somewhere.

I personally want to thank Fosco for letting us download his music for personal use for free. That's very nice of you.
Musical tastes are as varied as are human beings and ears that listen to it. So to each his own, but let's all try to be nice to each other and expecially people that do things for others without asking for anything in return. :)
Keep up the great work Fosco!

I've worked on Garage Band (Apple music program) for a year now. The people at MacIDOL.com work differently than most other music sites. We don't rate or rank our music against each other. The general rule there is to give help and encouragement when possible and if ya don't like the music, keep it to yourself. As visual artist in college I had to critique other peoples art, which can be difficult, however, a critique can be very benificial if done tactfully. I take no offence from anything said about my music as I am an amature at best:confused:
One thing fer sure, Therz over 1,000 people at MacIDOL, quite a few of them sing and are very talented... I'll give a list of who I like and believe put out great music for free if anyonez interested... Some don't allow downloads in the hope of selling thier music. I've even bought from three different artists there:eek:
BTW... I signed the petition, that sucks an Apple oughta make that right.

one thing bout fosco is he is indeed a very caring n giving hobbit ;)
i particularly liked Last Train Out.
i think opinions are always gonna be a mixed bag when it comes to musical reviews. but thats just my opinion
i try and find the positives in song(s). input is cool n' i reckon negative input can be useful. the trick is to offer up the critisim in such away it doesn't hurt the artist(s).
take care fosco!
btw: kudo's n3tfury for following up on the initial first post.

seems to me like others are more upset at me than fosco is. ;)
he takes criticism well. i pointed out things, IMO, that would make ME like those songs alot more. if he goes with it on one song, or some, or none, well that's his artistic path, and that's fine.
i don't agree with your statement "if ya don't like the music, keep it to yourself" since you posted most likely in hopes of people giving feedback and people just LISTENING to what you've created.
i gave my .02, no big deal. i'm also hoping when you "release" something new, that you'll post about it in this thread. just because i don't like the batch you have cooked right now, doesn't mean i won't like the stuff that's cooking :)
btw, please post/link those artists that you mentioned. i'm interested.

hey n3tfury,
im not upset. yes he does take it well. please don't take my comment the wrong way about giving critisim.
we can either be constructive or destructive. our beliefs don't make things fact. again, in no way shape or form am i upset. just chimming in :)
i do think the word "sucks" is very much a strong opinionated word though  but like i also said, kudos for following up.
peace
[not sure who you are adressing in the post above]

These are artists that I believe are good at MacIDOL.com. I don't necessarily love everything they do, but IMHO they are good at what they do. Most sing and play in different genres...
In no order of ranking off the top of my head.
1. James Bouchard
2. Talkin Ape
3. Shipwreck Union
4. Paul Brazier
5. rmaclemora
6. Billy Reid
7. B&massa - not all are downloadable
8. RCAndrews - not all are downloadable
9. bananakiller
10. Bill Josey
11. iFingers - site administrator and artist - most are downloadable
There are plenty more where they came from.
