Hi i got told that the cable that came with my iPod could not be used to transfer data (use my ipod as an external hardrive) and that i would need a dock (stand version(min cable does not have stand) so i was wondering if anyone is selling?

Who ever told you that was a compulsive liar. You can of course transfer data throught the regular cable. All the dock is, is a stand for it and provides it with audio out. You just need to enable disk action in itunes the next time you connect your ipod using the cable.
