4th gen and 3rd gen on the same machine?

How do you get a 4th gen ipod to be seen on a w2k machine that has 3rd gen ipod software without running the updater?

You have to set up both iPods so that the PC can read them. I have both set up and can connect both at the same time. I set up my 4G using the disk that came with it, used the updater to format it, a necessity, and was able to then connect the 60Gb to iTunes and transfer songs and photos.

You will have to use the updater to format and make sure the most current upgreade is on the iPod.

Just to be sure I understand, when I install the updater for the 4th Gen, I won't lose the the updater for my 3rd Gen.
