Limewire is legal to use in the US if you already own the CD/cassette. It's has to do with the 'Fair Use' part of the copyright laws.

Yes Limewire is legal. However, most of the sharing that occurs there is not. This issue has been beaten to like a rented mule. If you download music off of Limewire, what you are doing is ILLEGAL.

In other words having Limewire on your computer can not get you in trouble downlaoading music you don't own the rights to.
Illegal

It all depends on your mentality while downloading.. If you download music off it without the intent to return it back, then it is illegal.
However, if you download a song as a way of 'borrowing' it for an UNSPECIFIED length of time, with the intent to delete it sometime later (when you delete it does not actually matter) then in my view, it is legal.
So in effect, I'm 'permanently borrowing' most of the music on my PC :)

I think one of the problems here, is you say it more than once in different threads. I take each one seriously as well. The internet is hard to get across sarcasm, unless you use the smilies.
Also, if someone has only 6 posts (like the op), then there is a great chance he has no idea if you are joking or not. I had never noticed a post by you, until you said the exact same ridiculous thing in another thread.
But, I'll just pretend I don't have a sense of humor, and save you the trouble of telling me that.

Regardless of whether we're talking about Limewire or Kazaa, we're discussing the method of obtaining information, which is not normally illegal in and of itself.
However, the majority of material which can be found using either of these services is copyrighted material. This material is illegal to download (in most jurisdictions).
Therefore, for most people, in most jurisdictions, the purpose for which either Limewire or Kazaa would be used would be illegal.
Since the legal issues surrounding both services are the same, I will point all of you in the direction of the is Kazaa legal? (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64308) thread, where a more constructive discussion on the issues seems to have been taking place.
