I just bought a 10g 3rd Generation iPod. I have it hooked up to my pc with USB but it's not recognizing it. I know why..It's formatted for a Mac. The disc wasn't sent with the iPod, only the cables were. Is there any program I can download online that will reformat the iPod to work with windows?

I've tried using anapod reinitializer but the ipod is not recognized, not even as a drive. I'm really confused how to reformat the ipod if it's not even being recognized by my pc.

I take it you bought it used... you may be screwed, dude.
Unless someone else here can come up with a solution, you may want to consider getting your money back or do your damnedest to get the disc...

I would monkeyman but that's just the problem, I bought the iPod used with no discs. I downloaded the iPod updater from apple.com which works, but the iPod itself isn't recognized.
The usb cable works fine, i've tried restarting both the pc and iPod over 4 times.
Are the discs DVD? If anyone has a burner I would greatly appreciate a b&p ( I send the discs and an extra envelope addressed to myself inside of a bubble mailer. You burn the discs and send them in the second envelope included (with paid postage))

The answer lies here: http://www.ipodlounge.com/faqs_more.php?id=113_0_10_0_C
It looks like you need a Firewire port to do it...

Do you think firewire will make a difference? I have a firewire to USB converter which i'm using right now, I'd rather not spend $40 on a firewire card if I can get by without it.

I'm just telling you what I'm reading in the FAQ. If I knew that Firewire would make a difference, I'd let you know.
Perhaps you should try it without the Firewire to USB converter, unless of course you've tried that already.
I hope you get this figured out, man. And if you don't, I hope you can get your money back...

I'll go to a pc shop tomorrow and try connecting directly to firewire. I did get an amazing deal on this thing, too good to be true? I'll find out soon.
