I have an iPod which is configured for windows, and contains around 5,000 songs. I have just bought a Mac, and want to transfer the songs to iTunes on my Mac. I have iPod viewer on the Mac but it will not view my (Windows-formatted) iPod.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could get the music off the iPod and onto the Mac?

Welcome to the lounge. You can use the method in #1 in my sig. This is a detailed article on how to transfer songs back to the PC using PodUtil, which works on both windows and Mac.

Second choice, you can drag you music folder onto the iPod HD and transfer the songs that way.
