Hi there, I have recently purchased two ipods one for me, and one for my girlfriend.

Went through the usual process installed ipod and itunes etc. When inserting a CD in to the D drive itunes does not recognise this? However, my windows meadia player does!!? It does not automatically start to transfer even when i go to preferences and click the ' transfer on insertion button'? The Audio CD icon does not even appear in the source list of itunes.

I am so frustrated as i have had no use out of these since christamas and feel i have been left in the dark. If anyone has any idea of how i can correct this please, please do help it will be much apreciated.

Just for technical issues i have a compaq, running XP windows. Thanks again in advance!

Never heard of the problem before but here are some suggestions.

1. Is the CD one of the new copy protected ones? Have you tried more than one CD?

2. Copy the CD as an MP3 in Windows Medai Player then just import the MP3's from your hard drive into iTunes.

First, go to Edit>Preferences>Burning and see if your CD burner/player is listed there. If it isn't then you can't use iTunes to import. You will have to use some other app.

If it is listed then and the CD is not copy protected:
-on the tool bar in iTunes go to 'Help' & click on the Run CD Diagnostics;

-go to the control panel>add/remove programs>iTunes and click on 'change/remove'. When the window opens click on repair>next.

Thanks guys for getting back to me i really appreciate it. I have tried all of the above things and still no luck. The CD diagnostics shows there is a CD but then says it is blank!?

Also i have tried 5+ cd's in the drive just to see if some where copywritted.

Any more suggestions guys?

Thanks again!

My earlier suggestion 2 is not a fix but it is a workaround that will get your songs into iTunes.

What is the model of the CD drive?
