Hi
I just inherited an iPod 15 GB. It has a bunch of great songs I would like to save but it was formatted on a Mac and I have Windows XP. How do I go about saving this music then getting the iPod to work with Windows. Is it possible? I heard there are programs to do this. Its a bit overwhelming for me right now.
I also have to purchase a USB connector to connect my iPod to the computer.
Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the lounge. A PC will not read a Mac formatted iPod. You will need to download and install the updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download) and use the 'restore' feature.

If you want the music you will have to use some software on your PC like EphPod w/ MacOpener for the PC to be able to read it (http://www.ephpod.com). You will have to pay for MacOpener.

You can format the iPod for the PC and go to the person and ask them can you get a copy of the music after because a Mac can read a windows formatted iPod. Just put the iPod on 'manually manage songs and playlists' using iTunes (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131). You can then transfer the songs back to your PC via #1 in my sig.
