I was wondering if its relatively ok to just leave the iPod in its dock, close itunes, and and shut down your comp.

I also ask this for safety precautions like power outages and etc.

Yeah, that's ok, the iPod will go to "operational" mode instead of "Do not Disconnect." If you power the dock from the AC Adapter, you can still charge it. Either way, you can use the line-out on the dock to play music.

I just wouldn't leave the drive mounted (where is flashing Do Not Disconnect) over night or anything as that will cause excess wear on the hard drive. So just disable Hard Drive mode in iTunes.

How do you disable Hard Drive mode in Itunes? I have looked everywhere. I have a 3G iPod by the way.
