Playlists/Uploading

I recently purchased an iPod mini. I cannot automatically upload all of my library onto it, because I have more than 1,000 songs. Tis means that I must do it by uploading playlists of every artist or CD. If I want to make a real playlist, a mix of good songs, it will be burried in countless other playlists. Does anyone know of any way to import only the songs or artists I want of my computer without having to make all of the playlists? Thank you very much for any help here???

Make one playlist: Songs for the mini. Make sure all songs you want the mini are in it. when you update the iPod make sure this playlist is selected. You'll want to turn on "Update selected playlists only" now you have one playlist with all songs that will be on the playlist uploaded. Just one.

now you can make any other number of playlists (from the songs that are in playlist number one) in any order you want and limit the number of playlists on your iPod. Select the ones you want to go on the mini in the preferences as you did the first one.

Or... Set your iPod to manual update. Then just drag/drop the songs you want on the mini to the mini in the source list. Later you can click on the mini and make playlist off of the available songs on the mini if you wish.
