''Don't Steal Music'' ;)
itunes music store would be your safest bet if you've been caught once IMO.

I'm sure something new will pop up in the next few months, and it'll be untraceable and fast as heck, and then that will be destroyed and something new will spawn from its remains.
That's what I love about tech, it never gets worse, only better. We may mourn suprnova now, but just wait, the next big thing will be so much better.

uh, what about it? it's still illegal. how about getting a job and paying for cd's? or buying from itunes/napster/etc? damn, what a concept!
@n3tfury: Please stop flaming . . . make life easier for me.
Here are some good sources of GNU/GPL software, creative commons licensed music, and . . . well . . . anyway:
Loki torrent is still up, despite legal threats from the MPAA.
Pirate bay is up and has a hilarious legal threat e-mail section that everybody can feel okay laughing at.
[for the two sites above, try using YABC, BitTornado, or Azureus]
Exeem is very, very, very guarded right now, but look for it in the near future.
Kazaa lite k++ edition is pretty far underground now, but you might be able to find a dated version on oldversion.com
In the future, try searching www.wikipedia.org before asking here, thank you!

Use Limewire (http://www.limewire.com)...it's illegal, but not many people know about it yet...

first of all, it's NOT illegal. secondly, it's not new and alot of people know about Limewire unless they've been living under a rock.

Don't Steal Music....Just borrow it permanently...Use Ares. www.aresgalaxy.org/ -very reliable, not intrusive and much much better than kazaa

Actually, iTunes' DRM is probably the only one that has been cracked, and fairly easily, too.
You still have to purchase the music yourself, but once you have it, there are options available to remove the DRM protection.
The only catch is that in the U.S. you'd probably be in violation of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) for doing so.... Mind you, if you're willing to download illegal music anyway....

I love iTunes. I've always said, Give me a good, fast, convenient way to get my music electronically, and I'll gladly pay a buck a song, and I do.
The only issue I have is that iTunes (and Napster and Real and every other legal outlet I've found) concentrates on current releases. What I'll miss about the peer2peer method is being able to find rare, obscure, out-of-print-for-decades, maybe even digitized from an old 12-inch single songs.

not only do you normally just get current and mostly radio crap, the bitrates aren't worth the $$.

Really, i want a straight answer, no things about moral stuff and issues and that, is limewire legal? if no one can tell without mumbo jumbo, then can someone please give me a website that tells all the illegal music downloading things? i'm sorry if this is the rong place for this, but all the limewire posts i saw were locked and i don't want to make a redundant post

All p2p services are 'legal' in the sense that installing them is not a crime.
Using any p2p service to download copyrighted music without the express consent of the copyright owner is an illegal act.
Straight enough?
