Hi, just wondering what podcast is? Does it enable me to listen to the radio on my iPod when it is not connected to my PC?

And also, what exactly is syncing and how do I do it? What are the benefits? (using the iPod winamp plugin)

A podcast is like RSS but with audio. You subscribe to feeds and then when you sync your iPod, it puts the audio on your iPod to listen to later. Let's say you have a favorite radio show but don't get to listen to it often. If they podcast, you can subscribe to the feed and listen to the show when it's convenient for you. Check out http://www.ipodder.org for more info. iPodder was created by Adam Curry, one of the original MTV VJ's.

Syncing an iPod makes sure the iPod and iTunes have the same music in them (if setup for auto sync). It's strictly a one way sync so if you accidentally delete a song in iTunes, it won't transfer it from the iPod. Instead it will delete it from the iPod. There are ways you can transfer FROM the iPod TO the computer. Those are explained in the iPod 201 articles on this site. You can also setup a manual sync in case you have more room on the iPod then you do on your hard drive for your music but keep in mind if the iPod dies/gets lost/stolen/etc. you'll lose all your music unless you have it backed up elsewhere.
