Hi,

I have a question (sorry if it's been asked a thousand times).

I want to use a 20gb ipod (whatever the latest model is) on XP machines at work, which have USB2.0 ports. I dont have access to install drivers on these machines, will I be simply able to plug in the ipod via usb and have it show as a portable drive so I can access data?

If so, will me having folders with data (movies, documents etc) cause any problems with the iPod?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Mitch

Welcome to iPodlounge!

Yes, the iPod can be used as a mass-storage device without the need to install any drivers on the computers. You just need to enable the iPod for hard disk usage through the iPod Preferences.

And no, having these files on the iPod will not cause any problems with the operation of the iPod.

Sorry to "interfier". :)
Im getting my iPod @ christmas and trying to equip myself with every bits and pieces of information so that I'll be ready to rock & roll when I unwrap my dear iPod.

And my quoestion is (prolly asked like...1001 times, sorry):
As a windows user, can I just doubleclick song.mp3 in my iPod (set work as a drive) and play it straight in Winamp or similar soft.? Cause Im having doubts of iTunes and it would be nice to be able to use my iPod like an another HD...
Can I just drag & drop music to the "drive", put iPod in my pocket and start jamming? :)

Thanks! Love the pages, love the forum and the lay-out of iPodlounge <3.

Not without iTunes or another iPod "music-loading" application.
