ok, if you a fan of live music then this is the site for you. www.archive.org. the music is in the audio section of course. it has hundreds of bands that allow live taping of their concerts. and are what they call trade-friendly. the site allows people to host these concerts. i don't know how they do it but they do. the downloads take some time but are well worth it. most dowloads are in shorten format in zip files. it also has flac. i am not a very tech savvy person therefore i don't know what flac and shorten mean......but i do know how to turn these files into music to my ears. yeah, check it out.

another site that offers these shorten files (SHN) is www.etree.org. etree has a help section with plenty of info.

There is some great stuff there. They've got tons of Jack Johnson and Howie Day, plus many others.

archive.org is great. The video archives, the audio collection... they even have entire dated versions of the internet backed up that you can browse.

First of all, I would like to thank iKief, or anyone else who may have mentioned this site, because it may have filled the hole in my life. In the past day since I first went to this site I have DOUBLED my music library, and I haven't even been downloading as much as I could. I must say I was most impressed with the selection of Grateful Dead concerts. I have always collected Dead shows on cassette and CD, but never have I had so many of their concerts at my diposal. I downloaded and listened to shows that I was at when my Mom was pregnant with me. Thank you to anyone who brought this site to my attention and to the people responsible for contributing to the site. I'm sure within the next week (especially next weekend) I will download even more. Thanks alot.
*Note- I am referring to both sites, as they both are full of wonderful recordings.
