Hey all!

So I now have a new computer and firewire cad and an old second generation IPOD for windows. Unfortunately the software CD that came with it originally does NOT work, presumably because it's scratched.

I downloaded iTUNES and it does not recognize the IPOD of course. I downloaded the iTunes "update" from the apple page and it won't work either..it says...."ipod service error" and just shuts down (I've tried this quite a few times).

Is it that I need that original CD to make it work? Programs I've tried to use to copy the old songs FROM the ipod to the new computer don't work either which is interesting. Any advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated!

welcome to the lounge :)

sounds like you've got all the right software...

have you tried to reset the iPod before connecting...

or maybe put it into disk mode if that doesn't work...

hopefully the firewire card will be compatible with the iPod...
