15 gig 3rd gen upload freeze problem

hey there, i have a 15 gig 3rd gen iPod it is running version 2.2 and recently when i want to add songs onto it, it copies 3 or 4 songs onto the ipod and itunes freezes and i cant end task it, i have to totally rebot my pc to get out of it. its not the music files because i have tried many differant music files. i have restored it to factory settings, reinstalled drivers, and itunes and the problem still happens. can anyone help me

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed

Also are you using Firewire ?? some cheaper Firewire cards cause problems with Windows PC's much as you are describing.

i am using usb 2.0 and itunes is up to date

Do you still have a copy of iTunes 4.6, there have been a lot of reported problems with 4.7 and Windows XP. You could also try disabling any firewalls (including Windows XP) see if that makes a difference.

If you have a copy of 4.6 it might be worth going back a version to see if it improves things.
