iPod Won't Restore

OK... I have searched and searched for an answer to this... But I can NOT find it, so someone help me!

I wanted to have my iPod windows formatted, so I had my 3G with music on it and stuff, but I plugged it in, and opened the 8.06 iPod software. I restored my iPod, and then it went blank (the screen).

Whenever I pushed/hit a button, the Apple logo comes up, and a picture of a dock connector cable comes up, for 3 seconds, then nothing.

Why doesn't my iPod get regognized after a restore? Nothing in iTunes, just, nothing. I have set iPods up before on a Windows machine, but mine just has nothing, no software, no disk image, nothing.

I have tried a Reset, but it doesnt even come up on the computer anymore...

Someone help me... Please!

Here's your problem. You should have read the Updater's notes:


"iPod 3.0.1 software is not compatible with other models of iPod, including original scroll wheel and touch wheel iPods, and iPod mini."

This new firmware software comes in the 08.06 Updater. So, unfortunately your 3G model is not compatible with the Update/Restore feature.

But since you've already restored it, I suggest you plug your iPod back into the AC adapter and charge it. In the 4G models, an icon comes up indicating it needs to be charged to "load" up the updated firmware. Once it charges, it loads it and should start to work. Then plug it back into your computer and test it out...it should then be recognised by Windows and iTunes. This has been my experience with the 4G model though.

I know that, and I didn't update it to 3.0.1, but 2.2 for the 3G

Over in the iPod discussion forums at Apple, there is a thread under iPod -> Usage -> Corrupt iPod file where someone is offering to email the 3.0.1 updater to those who ask.
