why not just use the apple remote which gives you more functionality and a pair of in-ear phones, might cost a bit more, but it's just an idea. Welcome to the lounge :)

Try the Pioneer SE-CL20V! These in-ear phones have volume control.

the problem with headphones with an in-line volume is you're not changing the volume on the device itself, therefore you are still using the extra battery power it takes to make the volume louder, and just lowering it in the headphones themselves. May not matter, but I just thought I'd bring it up :)

Indeed, I'd say go for the iPod remote if you want volume control :) Or, Radio Shack sells an inexpensive in-line volume control thing which you can use on any pair of earphones. Perhaps not as ideal as finding a pair of earphones that have the feature built-in, but if there's a pair you know you like, it might be a handy option.

I believe the Sennheiser MX550's (http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=3319) have an inline volume controll :)

Yes, they do (and they sound pretty good, too) but I didn't think those qualified as in-ear. Unless he just meant earphones/buds...? The MX500s don't offer much in terms of isolation, unfortunately.

Thank you very much for pointing that out to me. Getting the apple remote is a great idea but I don't want people know that I'm using a ipod. It may become thieves' target. (I was mugged for my MD Player couple years ago:mad: )

I have the MX500s with radio shack foams. These phones are great but no isolation.

I bought these to replicate my EX71s. Very comfortable, form a nice seal for very good isolation When compared, these seemed much more balanced and flat (in a good way). They were neither too bright nor too thumpy and even though the mids were not esp. They are great!
