Well those aren't very popular headphones as you saw if you did any searches over at head-fi. You're much better off with something like a Sony V6 than the V500, from the 5 minutes of reading I just did.

You really need to give more info about what you want. Buds vs small headphones vs big cans? Price range? Lots of bass, or treble?

Thx for responding guys.
I don't know whether i need earbuds or headphones. I am a bit leaning towards headphones cuz i heard that they have good sound quality and more comfortable. In budget wise, around 100, just a ball park. I need something good but not that EXTREMELY expensive. Any recommendations?

Thanks again

I just realized I have those Sony phones. I don't use them much because they're really uncomfortable. They sound OK, but not nearly as good as my HD-500s.

The HD-477 should be really nice, but maybe not the best portable phones. The previous 4xxx range had horrible cords that broke easily (I ended up tossing a pair). The newer Senns have a detachable cord, which should help. I really enjoy my HD-500s, but they're way too big to use with the iPod.

I'd also suggest the PX-100 or 200, because they'll be a bit more portable (no reason to have a ultra-portable DAP and huge headphones). I've heard nothing but great things about their sound quality, and since they're designed for portable use they won't have that super-long cord that home-stereo phones (including the two you're looking at) have.

I agree with you on the phones vs buds, but I actually use buds. They're just so much more portable.

bdb, i agree that the earbuds are much more protable than the phones.

Have you tried the Sony MDR-EX71SL?

it's so much fun to experience different type, brend headphones. so far, I have passed 5 in-ear bud & headphones. finally, I can reduce my choice. when I go out, I use PCX-250 noise canceling headphone from Sennheiser. it's block almost 75% ambient noise. and sound differentiation by each music type, supports superb sound quality. it's also perfect to use just at home. another in-ear bud is Philips HE61(?) (silver/black). it provides virtual sound effect around ear, gives me a lot of extra bass power. but it's not for jogging, or some physical activities because buds in ear can be easily fallen off by outside impact. finally. sometimes I use Apple ipod in-ear bud. but I don't recommand that you buy it because sound does not enough to make your ear sastifaction well. bass is not good but when you listen to some classical music, it will be nice.

if I were you, I will purchase Sennheiser product which offers you amazing sound quality, good price line.

I have the MDR-EX51XL, which (I'm told) is the same as the 71, but has a medium-length cord cord instead of the short cord plus extension. I don't think it really lives up to the hype this NG makes of it, but its an OK set of buds. It sounds a bit better than the Sennheiser buds, and certainly has a lot more isolation.

I use two sets of buds to get the isolation when I'm in a noisy place (like an airplane), but I personally don't like the feeling of walking about with no ability to hear my surroundings. Some don't mind, though.

The Shure or Etymolic buds are supposed to be really good, if you want that sort of isolation. You can find the Shure E2C for $70 in some places.
