I am a big fan of Pete Tong style dance and house music, i have Sony EX71's and there fine.

However is there any house music fans that have experience with this type of music on the raved about Etymotic 4's or 6i's...

Do they work ok? or should I stick to me Sonys?

:D :D :D :D

Probably not what you're looking for. For house music you want big bass, and Etys just don't do that at all. If you want to upgrade from the EX71, the first upgrade worth your while would be the Shure E5 or Westone UM2.

Hi Kauffee,

I work at a hi-fi shop, however we don't sell many in-ear headphones.

I notice you have Grado SR80's, I have sold the for many years.
Do the Etys have as much bass and clarity as these?

unfortunatlly We only stock the senn 500 in-ears which I find the sound as quite bright,I am in need a good balance.

The sonys EX71 i have are a bit on the wooly side sometimes..

Thanks for your time on this...

:)

I wouldn't go into in-ears if you listen to alot of Dance/House... I would try out a pair of full size cans.

Well I had the Ety ER-4P and their bass didn't even come close to the SR-80. And from what I've read, the ER-6i bass is pretty comparable to the ER-4P.

mmm,...
So is there any inear's other than the Sony's with good bass?

Yes... the Shure E5c and Westone UM2 would be the cheapest, but both over $300. Then you've got Ultimate Ears and Sensaphonics. Basically, you need in-ears that are dual-driver with a dedicated bass driver.

i would stay away from the er-6is if you're style of music is more dance/house. they're 'okay' but i'm finding that i have to use the eq settings which i never used to on my ex71s. however for other types of music, i'm hearing things with the etys that the sonys never produced. apparently the bass on the shure e3c is better, but i think i'm going to stick with the etys for the moment.

have a read here if you haven't already...
