iPod photo does not make docking noise?

I recently noticed that when you dock the iPod photo in the photo dock, it makes no chirpious sound! However, when I tested with my inMontions, and my old 20gb dock, it does make a sound.

I found this strange, and wondered if others had noticed the lack of noise, and any sggestions as to why it may be.

Strange.... Mine doesn't make any docking noises at all, regardless of what I connect it to (photo dock, inMotion speakers, or direct USB or firewire cables).

Is it the dock or the pod that usually makes the noise? Either way my iPod photo doesn't do it.

I was pretty sure that it was the iPod that made the noise. But now it makes me think. Because it will beep when I link it up to my inMotions (and old dock with the cover taken off), but nothing else.

Oh, and it has to be a dock for it to make a noise, a standard cable won't do anything.
