My factory HU in my car is slowly dying on me so I've been looking at aftermarket HU's. Alpine really caught my attention becuase of their ability to hook up their newer HUs to the iPod. So my question is has anyone had any experience with the CDA-9830? Some reviews I've read said the display was dark but then someone told Alpine corrected this problem.

I installed the 9830 with the iPod adapter last weekend, and think it's great. The only issue I have with it, is the glossy face can be hard to read due to glare (I find occasionally I have to angle my hand over the face). The sound is excellent, and I'm still playing with different EQ settings (there are no "bass/treble" buttons, but a parametric equalizer...... the presets are pretty good, but i'm still toying with the custom settings.)
