First off, I'd like to apologize to anyone who finds this thread being out on it's own (instead of putting this as a response to another thread) offensive, if indeed that is the case.
My problem isnt in installation. I have a Pioneer DEH-P3500 headunit that I self-installed about a year ago. Because I self-installed it, I'm still able to pull the headunit back out of the plastic case that keeps it in place (oh, my car is a 1995 Honda Accord). Once I got my iPod, I knew there had to be a way to hook it up so I would be able to listen to it directly through my soundsystem in the car.
So, what I did was take a simple RCA cord that plugs into either the headphone jack or the line out jack (if I use the dock) and plugs the red and white cables into the auxillary imputs in the back of the headunit.
My problem is that after I hook the iPod up, it seems like the auxillary imput actually bypasses the headunit entirely. Now, this really isnt good for what I need. While it is great to be able to listen to the iPod, I also have a subwolfer set up in my trunk. It appears as if the iPod is just circumventing the headunit entirely (the volume on the headunit doesnt affect the sound level projected in the speakers, the subwolfer doesnt thump i suppose, and any adjustments in the headunit settings have absolutely no effect on the sound levels or quality).
Now, the worst thing I could hear is that my analysis is correct and that I am up the creek without a paddle. If that's not the case, does anyone know how I can get the iPod to run through the headunit so that the volume levels and output quality can be controlled by the car itself?
Thanks in advanced.
Mike
