battery charger in car question....

Sorry if this has been posted elewhere, i did a search but came up with a lot of irrelevant stuff.....

I am just wondering about running a charger in my car. Will the ipod still run off the battery, or does it run off the charger? I know it's about the same thing, but I imagine that if it ran off the charger alone, then there would be no wear on the battery.

Also, I want a charger with a line out. I've heard some of the line outs give a flat signal, is there any that are good?

If the charger is attached to a working cigarette lighter/12v adapter the iPod will run of the car's electricity, not the its own battery.

I've had much sucess with my Belkin Auto Kit.
