I don't know if I've ever heard of the Etymotics being sold in stores. And if they are, expect to pay full retail which is over $300. For the best prices, take a look at idealsound on eBay (call them for their best price) or Todd the Vinyl Junkie (www.ttvj.com again, call Todd for the best price). Both of these dealers have great reputations. I can personally vouch for Todd, as he was great to deal with.

I'd suggest checking eBay or Head-Fi (www.head-fi.com) and their Classifieds sections for some deals.. You may also want to do a Froogle search. I have not seen a pair of Etymotics sold in retail stores, let alone Toronto.. Your best bet is online... If you hunt around you should be able to find a much better deal than the MSRP of $330 USD.
The best deal I found was this (http://store.yahoo.com/discountmas/etreeaer4se.html), which is quite a deal, but won't ship for at least another week or two..
Good luck, you should make your boyfriend happy with these...:)

I've just been through this (I'm located in Ottawa)....
There are two distributors in Canada; one in Toronto, one in BC. (check the etymotic.com website for the exact info). I have contacted both of them (only way to get pricing and other info). Firstly, their prices seem relatively high (ie. list price). Secondly, the Toronto place seems like a small home-operation (my impression); it has a website with a non-secure order form, a posted 1-866 number that did not work when I tried, and if emailed the response comes from what seems like someone's home email address. The BC place seems more professional but again have a website with no prices or ordering info and a 1-800 number that didn't work when I tried.
I was frankly rather surprised that these places are listed on the etymotic website. My personal preferences led me to steer clear of these places, since I was not confident they would be around if return / servicing / whatever was required, and overall they appeared less professional than what I was looking for. Their prices simply did not justify this to me.
I decided to order from headroom (www.headphone.com), who are a very established and well respected retailer, and whose price for the ER-4 is EXCELLENT at $220 (better than any I've seen quoted anywhere else). They ship USPS if you ask them to (better for duty, etc, than UPS/Fedex).
