I understand that you can transfer photos to an iPod photo by selectingorganised albums or a folder on your computer. Not having a particulary well organised collection of photos, and having an iPod photo coming for christmas, I was going to select the my pictures folder and transfer that.

I was wondering whether the photos appear in folder order (the My PIctures folder is subdivided into others) and what the UI is like for transfering photos from iTunes and once you have clicked the 'Pictures' option on the iPods start screen. Any photos/screenshots would be welcome.

Sorry if this has been asked before,

Sam

I actually started out syncing my "My Pictures" folder on my PC, and it works reasonably well.

When syncing the "My Pictures" folder (or any other folder, for that matter), each sub-folder at the first level forms an album. All sub-folders below that are simply grouped with the first-level folders. So, for example, if you had three directories in your "My Pictures" folder named Christmas, Birthday, and Vacation, each of these would form an album. These albums would include all pictures in these folders and all of their sub-folders.

The folders/albums will appear on your iPod in alphabetical order by default. You can, however, re-order them by dragging the names around in the list in iTunes.

As far as the photo management interface in iTunes goes.... There isn't one. You organize your photo collection either as raw folders and files (ie, under "My Pictures") or get an application like Adobe Photoshop Album... iTunes simply synchronizes whatever you've organized in these applications.

There's an iPod 101 article coming real soon on how this all works, complete with some screenshots, so hopefully that may help to answer a few of your questions in more detail.
