I just got my ipod hooked up to my explorer using an auxiliary input converter. I am looking forward to using this set-up but found that the dock does not work real good. My ipod doesn't stay connected because the the dock moves around some. I am debating between the sik imp and the sendstation pocketdock with line-out. I have heard that the sik has some noise issues when it is charging. What are peoples opinions on the two. Thanks, Ryan

I have both. The connector on the "Din" part of the "Imp" is smaller than that of the PocketDock. I can plug the Din into Vaja case where I have to remove the iPod for the PocketDock. I don't see how different connectors that do the same thing have different audio qualities though. And if you but the PocketDock, you will also need a firewire charger. Good luck.

So if the pocketdock needs a firewire charger, can you use a 1st / 2nd gen firewire charger? i.e. one that terminates in a 6-pin firewire plug?

Yup........................
It even mentions that in one of the descriptions at the SendStation web site (http://www.sendstation.com/)

you can also try the belkin auto-kit. It has the line-out right on the piece that plugs into the power socket, so there is only one wire from the ipod. I think it makes for a cleaner install.
As for the noise, you can just get a ground loop isolator from wal-mart for like $10 to solve that problem
