I have a 97 mercury sable (pretty much a ford taurus) with the big goofy round plate around the head unit i had installed. I cant seem to figure how to get it out to put the aux adapter in. Its got two holes on each side of the cd player, but i dont think there are screws. I think i read somewhere you have to use special tools or a coat hanger or something? Anybody know?

You're probably right, some car stereos need special "extraction" tools in order to free them from the dash.

DIN Tool (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-JgORoxpxGMt/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=754&I=120865618)
You probably need a DIN tool. Many places carry them. I've included a link to the item at Crutchfield so you know what to look for.
