belkin battery pack??

I ordered a belkin battery pack for my new 3G 30g ipod. I was wondering if ipod never use its own power (lithium ion battery) when the battery pack is on even in fully charged lithium ion battery.
And do you guys think this lengthen ipod's lithium ion's life??

Well from previous posts it has been proven that the belkin charges the Ipod's battery.

Going off this logic I would presume that the belkin keeps the batter at full power and feeds power to the Ipod battery as it drains. So I dont think it extends the life. However this is pure speculation.
