I was just thinking today while i was about to use the tv connection, the ipods video output is built in the headphone port, and is accessed using 3 ring connector. Could it be that apple did this because they are planning to release a new remote for the ipod photo so that users can have a inline remote like sony does so that they can see what there browsing through?????
I havent explained it well but the ipod pro's should understand what i am implying.:D

i'm guessing a wireless remote of some type as you hook the iPhoto to the tv

I think I know what you're suggesting... A remote that would display something from the video output.
Unfortunately, this would also require a firmware upgrade, since the iPod photo doesn't currently have the capability to display anything through the video output except for slideshows (ie, you can't mirror your current iPod screen display onto your TV :( ).
Personally, I think Apple was just trying to be efficient with the connector, particularly on the assumption that many people would want to play music with their slideshows, so all three signals can be sent through one connector.
