OK I was listening to my iPod and it just locked up and I am trying to find out how to reset it. I tried docking it and my Powerbook does not see it.
Help!

Press the Menu and the Select buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the screen (this should take you about 5 seconds or so). It's in the manual.

How do you force Disk Mode on a 4th and 5th Gen iPod- is it the same as the 3rd gen- prev and next buttons held down after resetting?

I know that disk mode can be enabled through iTunes, but if you don't use iTunes I am not sure how it is enabled on the pod.

Forced Disk Mode is done on the iPod itself - usually for troubleshooting purposes, like when you have to rebuild the iPod's directory (in cases where the iPod itself fails to mount on your mac/pc). I've done used it before on my 3rd gen to allow Norton Utilities to fix it up after it got 'frizzled' by a bad Firewire port on a mac i was using at university.
Im posting this question because the button arrangement on the 4th and 5th gens is different, and i tried the prev/next key combo on a friend's iPod mini once when her mini was acting strange - the key combo didn't work.
