I lost one of the medium sized inserts for my Sony EX-51's the other day, and none of the other ones (the small or large) fit my ear at all. I dont get a decent seal and all the bass escapes.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? I called a number of departments at Sony, finally learning that if I wanted a replacement for just that 1 rubber insert, I would have to pay $4.95 plus shipping. Poopy.
What would really be great is if someone out there who owned a pair of 51's or 71's who didnt use the medium ones could swap/sell/(give?) me theirs. I'd pay shipping and whatever. I posted something about this in classified already.
Help appreciated much!

Actually, i Have the EX71's and am currently in the same position. They are ok earphones, and I don't want to let them go to waste just because I lost one of the medium ones. Would you at least mind giving me the #/website of where you can get the replacement stuff for 4.95 + shipping? That's a start, thanks

maybe you guys should take a risk on those griffin earjams. the rubber cap pieces look like the sony ones so they might fit and u can get the pair for 10

I had teh exact same situation and managed to get a replacement set for $0.65 shipped. What I did was post a message on this board offering a trade. I mail my large or small eartips to you with a return postage paid envelope and you send me your unused/ not needed med tips. A member was nice enough to help me out. I know I wouldn't mind sending someone my large tips to get another backup set of mediums. It's worth a shot.

I saw a thread (either here or head-fi.org) devoted to trading (for example, if you lost one of your Mediums, but still had the small and large that came with). Can't find it now, but that might be another option.

I think this is the thread you mean:

It is a "sticky" topic at the top of the Ear/Headphones forum.

The idea is that these are unused sizes that other people didn't need since most of the time you're just using one size (unless you're sharing earphones or your ears are somehow changing size :) Of course you take the risk that they tried them on once when they first got the headphones to size them, but that's what disinfecants are for. The other option is to just suck it up and pay 5 bucks for a piece of rubber. :)

^Just stick them in isopropyl alcohol for 24 hours, or if you are really that phobic, ask a hospital to bombard it with radiation! No more germs!
