What will be some good headphones for me to buy? i want the 'earbud' type of earphones, not the 'in-ear' ones. I'll be mainly using them on the train and also at home and outside with my iPod. Also i dont want to spend over $100, maybe i'll go a bit over that price, but not much. So please give me some suggestions. thanks.

You can pick up a pair of Sennheiser mx500 or mx550 for $25 or less. I don't know of any earbuds that cost $100.

By the way i live in Australia and cant buy things over the internet (under 18) so it would be good if you could also tell me what shops i should look in. I wouldn't mind in-ear 'phones but as long as they wouldn't go down my ear canal, just sort of rest in my ear (like earbuds). I want pretty good sound (better than the iPod stock). Also I listen to rap music on my iPod if that has any impact on earphone suggestions. thanks

if you're in sydney then try wicked digital (http://www.wickeddigital.com.au/index.ws4d) - they stock sennheisers as well as some other good audio stuff. i've heard nothing but good stories about them.
if in perth, then try headphonics (http://www.headphones.com.au/index.php) - they too offer sennheisers, but also koss 'phones (good value!)
headphonic will allow you to pay by direct debit, though ask if they will take banker's draft or postal order.
good luck!
btw welcome to the lounge :)

I stopped by the BOSE store yesterday and checked out a pair for $299. They were sweet! Noise reduction and everything. I still will not pay that much for them, though.

Not the dreaded TriPorts... Please no - not them... BACK AWAY FROM ANY BOSE HEADGEAR!!! Unless you want to end up with a large dent in your wallet and a cr@p product to boot ... Trippa - Surf on over to Head-Fi and browse through the forum there - That'll put you on the right path to earbud happiness! :D

I can vouch for the MX550's and headphonics (www.headphones.com.au) - I am still astounded at the quality of them, and I got it in the mail 2 days after they recieved my payment.
