ok guys i now have the er6is and e3cs ,both good capable phones the different sound signatures i find give an enjoyable choice /option dependant on my choice of music . variety being the spice of life and i feel it adds to the entertainment factor to swap and change. what id like to know if there's any of you out there with the personnal expereience of all, are these two models the er6is/e3cs the cost effective happy medium in the ety/shure range ,the reason i purchased both , or am i truely missing out by disregarding both the high end models of the range cheers for any informed advice

I used to have the shure E3c's and currently own the E5's and i wouldn't say the E5's are much of a step up , more of a step down in clarity and a step up and bass. Your better off just using the bass booster EQ on your ipod using the E3's, rather than splashing out on new E5c's because you won't be that pleased with the little improvement.

I've been studying up on earphones too. I've been considering the ER4Ps and the E5Cs too. But another to consider is the Westone UM2s (http://www.westone.com/music/) I like the fact they they are dual driver like the E5Cs, have optional custom molds available, and the "Comply Canal Tips" that are only $9.95 for three pair. I don't have any experience personally with any of these three, but on paper, I'm leaning Westone right now.

But I could change my mind after the holidays........
