best quality headphones

I currently use some sony EX71 canal phones but find them slightly uncomfortable, what are the best "out of ear" head phones to get, for sound quality and all round quality.

2) What kind of music do you listen to?

We also need to know whether you want headphones that are portable and sealed from outside noise. And are you using them straight from the iPod?
