Yes. If you are using win 2000 or XP, download the latest iPod update for Windows (1.4 for Gen 1), plug the iPod into your firewire port, run the ipod update program and click on "Restore" This will reformat the iPods HDD to FAT 32 for Windows. Then download iTunes and have fun....:)

thanks a lot, but im still confused, ive been reading around on various forums and some people say that G1's are made for MAC only and can only be used with Xplay, and that u can only formatt G3's. i stll havent read of someone who went trought the formatt process. so im still in the dark a little.

No, I bought a 2nd Gen Mac iPod and it works fine on Windows. The Gen 1s were originally made for Mac only, but with the introduction of the Windows iPod and Windows iPod updaters, pretty much ANY iPod can be made to work on Windows. The above about Xplay is only true if you don't use the updater to reformat the HDD. You can only use iTunes and the updater with Win 2000 and Win XP though.

thanks so much for helping and not slaming ike other people ill buy the ipod and try it out, id just like to find a tutorial or a post of someone whos actually done it. ill copy the songs with xplay cause its almost full, then formatt it with the updater. I still have one problem thought..... its called SP2 it messed up my phone hacking and now i dont want it to mess the ipod so ill remove it just to make sure everything goes ok. thank again... ooh and one more thing, im a big fan of solitaire, do G1's support games??

My G1 has a game (I don't remember what it is) but solitaire was introduced on the G3 if I recall correctly....
