need to ground aux input converter

hey..i just received the PIE HON98-AUX auxiliary converter..and i was reading the instructions. it said i needed to ground the unit if i plan on using a battery operated audio device (i.e. MP3 player) if i plan on using the Sik imp to continuously charge my iPod, so i still have to ground the aux converter?
