So I just got my ipod about three weeks ago and am totally enjoying it.
Ive read some stuff, and have decided to go with the FM modulator in car solution.
so I am going to buy this
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?c=1&b=g&u=74860&qp=0&bookmark=bookmark_0&oid=80974&catoid=-12581&m=0
and hook it up to my stereo and ipod.
I also know I need this
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1&catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=270-1556
to power the ipod using one of the in car chargers.

but how should I power the modulator?

and will I need any adapters for my stereo in my truck or will this work out of the box?

The FM modulator is too much work, not only will you have to find a way to power the module (tap into the cigarette lighter), but you will have to wire in a switch if you still want to be able to use your radio to listen to your favourite FM stations. Also, the sound quality will be just a little bit better than using an FM transmitter (iTrip or similar).

If you still have the stock radio in your truck you can use this module (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=398) to give you a pair of RCA inputs. The unit is powered right off of the head unit so it a real plug-n-play installation.

do all factory toyota head units accept taht adapter?
I havnt the tools right now to pull my head unit out to check (im away at college)...

also,
will this be less prone to ground loop interferance than other options?

There are 3 modules available for Toyota headunits. According to PIE, the one I pointed out is the proper one for your vehicle. You probably only need a Philips screwdriver to pull out your head unit. I have a PIE module in my car and I haven't experienced any ground loop problems.
