okay, so after staying up until 3:30 last night, i decided that i am going to hardwire my 3rd gen ipod into my 2001 Honda Civic coupe.

my setup will follow:
1. blitzsafe adapter
2. SIk imp
3. RCA Male adapters to plug into the blitzsafe
4. 12v cigarette adapter from radioshack
5. Belkin mount (cup holder)

i still have a couple questions before i order/install

1. do i need a ground loop isolator if i plan to power the ipod through the car?
2. even though there are tons of posts on how to wire in an extra cigarette lighter..i just dont get it. so if anyone wants to help me out and be an amazing person by explaining the install for a 2 year olds knowledge on cars, that'd be great. (the whole "cut part" i dont get...do i ACTUALLY cut it, or splice it, or what?
3. am i missing anything?
4. by charging the ipod all the time in my car, will it cause battery damage?

if anyone could answer any of my questions, that would be amazing because i am really excited about this project, but want to make sure im doing everything right.

1) Not necessarily. Depends on where power source vs. HU is grounded. You may not know until after you fire everything up.

Here's (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5355&highlight=ground+loop+isolator) a decent read on ground loops from an erlier post.

2) Tap in (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&category_name=CTLG_011_003_004_000&product_id=64-3052) may help with this. I haven't done it myself yet, but plan on using this method.

3) Won't you need RCA->1/8 mini plug adapter for Sik imp line out? Just a thought...

4) Not sure on this one...
