okay..i am sure all of have you have read and written these kinds of posts, but i am begging for help. i have a 2001 Honda Civic coupe, and a 3rd gen ipod. i want to be able to connect the 2. i had an itrip and was barely satisfied...(until it broke), and i am now in the market for a better solution. i looked at transpod, and it looked sweet, but as i looked around the forums, i saw much better setups and solutions. the ice link looked cool, but a bit pricey. so no matter how ####ed off u are to reply to the message..please do. starting from scratch, with 100-150 bucks to spend, with NO NO NO knowledge of cars, how can i set up a direct link to my car that charges and plays my music through my stock stereo? thank you so much, and i apologize if you have seen this message 453458946757 times a day.

Gershe101,
Get an Autopod power adapter, that plugs in to your car's ciggarette lighter socket and a cassette adapter. The FM transmitters suffer from channel drift and interferance.

Gershe101,
I don't think most are upset at seeing the posts, when people are having a tough time finding a solution and have looked a bit. Simple search on the internet reveals a lot. I had to start from scratch a couple years ago when there were fewer options. I think the "omg...I need someone to tie my shoes" is the issue...
Anyways, rant off, happy holidays, here is a solution for around $110.
1) http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehon98aux.html - $50 + shipping - this connects to the CD changer port in your headunit and provides an auxilliary input when CD changer is selected.
2) One of these to charge your ipod:
Monster ULPCC (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=90137245&loc=111&sp=1) - $28 + shipping
Belkin ipod car charger (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10345951&loc=101&hdwt=30301&sp=1) - $31 + free shipping
I have both and prefer the clarity of the monster ULPCC
3) cable to go from honaux to charger's line out (or headphone jack) - trust me the cable makes the difference - this one is 1/2 the price of other monster cable for ipod, thicker and does not get as much interference (from my personal experience):
monster thx standard rca to mini (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Monster-Cable-Audio-Interconnects--THXIMINI8-/sem/rpsm/oid/59420/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) - $16
total with shipping should be around $110.
If you go to a civic forum they can probably show you how to remove your stereo, best place to route the stereo, etc...
This, besides paying more for a more functional device, is the simplest way to go.
If you want a mount, you will spend a few bucks more.
I prefer Brodit mounts - from www.proclipusa.com - but they are more expensive than others.
