Hello,

I need to convert a 2000 CD's collection.

I am planing to convert all them to a lossless format so i can ear them at home. When travel with my iPod i will use smaller size files such as AAC or MP3.

My questions are:
1. What is the best ripper (For Windows) i can use? iTunes?
2. What is the best lossless format? The one in iTunes?
3. What format and specifications should i use to get some good quality files to put on my iPod when i am on travelling? AAC? MP3? What should be the configuration?
4. Can i convert a music from a lossless format to AAC or MP3?

Thank You,
Miguel

Exact Audio Copy, Here (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/)

FLAC, it's non-propriety and there's a lot of programs floating around to convert it to anything you want. Don't tie yourself to iTunes.

Here (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html)

Personally, I would stick with MP3 for it's multi-compatability. I recently changed back from AAC to LAME MP3 at the --alt-preset standard setting. It sounds great, try this guide for a start but don't be afraid to experiment for yourself.

Yes, Lossless formats can be converted to Lossy formats (MP3 etc).
This is a software for this,

There's a whole world of compressed music out there, it's fun but annoying at the same time  . Have a root around this forum,

and learn some more.

Enjoy

Great questions BTW. Also check out this (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38962) Thread.
