Hi,

I have an iPod Photo. I have uploaded my photos from a directory, on Windows. My directories were first in alphabetical order on my iPod. Later I added another directory which was in the middle of the others alphabetically, but on my iPod it is last.

Is there a known way to edit the list of photos ?

On a larger scope, can I view, delete, move pictures between picture lists and the same : rename, change order, delete the lists themselves ?

It seems the software is incomplete. I am forced to use Adobe Photo or iPhoto to have complete control over the picture lists ? Because I have 30Gb of JPEGS and it would take 3 days to import them into iPhoto.

All I want is to make my iPod display my photo directories in alphabetical order.

Thanks.

Not sure of the exact answer yet, but some software automatically refreshes back to date order (as saved to your memory stick originally).

Is this what has happened to your photos (ie are they in date order ?)

Actually, it's not really documented, but you can change the order of your photo albums in your iTunes Preferences->iPod->Photos dialog... just drag your folders up or down the list to reorder them.

I'm not really sure what you're asking here.... You can't edit the list of photos on your iPod itself, but then again it's the same with music on an iPod.... You have to manage the music back at your computer.

However, on the computer, you can do just about anything except change the order of the photos themselves within the album (I think they just get loaded up in chronological order).

As for renaming lists, moving them between albums, and so forth, remember that the iPod is just syncing whatever is under the specified folder... If you want a picture in a different album, just move it to a different folder. If you want to rename an "album" just rename the folder in Windows.

If you want an album to not be synced to your iPod, either use the "sync only selected folders" in iTunes preferences, or put the folder in another directory that iTunes is not using for sync.

For about the first week I was simply using iTunes with a raw folder structure, and I found it worked very well. I did purchase Adobe Photoshop Elements, but only because I wanted to better organize my pictures on my computer... It's actually made little to no difference in how they're organized on my iPod.

All I want is to make my iPod display my photo directories in alphabetical order.

As I indicated above, then, just drag-and-drop the folders in iTunes into whatever order you want to see them in. It's a manual process, but it will let you organize them in whatever way you want (for intsance, I organize my folders chronologically, with the most recent albums at the top).

I went to Preferences->iPod->Photos dialog, and the folders are already arranged in alphabetical order. I then go into my iPod, and they are not alphabetical. I did the whole "drag the folder" deal that you explained and still the same on my iPod. Does anyone know how to have the folders display alphabetically in the iPod?
