I ran into a few problems while trying to install AUXNISS (an input auxiliary adapter for my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder). First, I removed the headunit and plugged the AUXNISS into the back of it. I then tried to plug the red and yellow power wires (red is switched 12 volt, yellow is constant 12 volt) which were attached to the AUXNISS in the head unit in order to get power to the AUXNISS. I used the diagram that came in the instruction manual to power these wires. I was not sure how exactly to get these wires in their specific places (the manual said to attach the yellow wire into the "10" slot of the 10-pin connecter at the rear of the radio and the red wire into the "6" slot) so I simply inserted the wires into the 10 and 6 slots, hoping they would be touching what they would need to be touching to get power. After doing this, I tested the item by pressing ???cd/changer??? on my radio many times, but it did not see that there was anything installed (the button did nothing). I then spliced the wire going into my cigarette lighter because this is 12 volts switched and attached the red wire to it. I again tested the AUXNISS by pressing CD/Changer twice and this time it saw that an external cd changer was attached. When I pressed the button, the display showed ???disc 2 track 1??? and the number 2 was flashing. I could change the disc number by pressing "disc up/down" but nothing was playing from my ipod which was attached to the AUXNISS.

Keep in mind that at this point I don???t have the yellow wire attached to anything.

I have a few questions, what is the reason that there is a switched and constant power going to the AUXNISS and where should I attach the yellow wire to? Should I splice the wires going into the 10 and 6 slots and attach the red and yellow wires here (how exactly do I get the red/yellow wires into the 10 and 6 slots in the 10-pin connector)? Also, shouldn???t the ipod be playing over the speakers while the car is turned on with just the red wire attached?

More importantly, where should I attach the 12 volt constant yellos wire in my car??

ANY suggestions would be great!

Thanks
Rob

one of your questions is about why the RED and YELLOW wire? Well the RED is for a +12V Constant and the YELLOW is +12V REM....basically it means that you need to have both wires connected (they don't make things with extra wires usually)

if you were to just have the RED wire connected it gets juice from your battery all the time. That way you can play iPOD or anything electronic when the car is off or key rolled, etc.

the YELLOW wire is for when the car is on you run through the alternator and junk. use the car's power instead of sucking juice from the battery.

you should attach your YELLOW wire to the REM wire in your wiring harness (usually blue) but CHECK YOUR RADIO MANUAL. Look for REM and there is a color code for it, most of the time it's blue. This will shut off your AUX adapter when the car is off!!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU LIKE STARTING YOUR CAR

don't worry about putting the wires into hole 10 and 6....just splice it from the source...be careful and make sure you use good connections and tape them correctly, otherwise things might short!

a 12V constant is easy to find in your car, by the AC, usually some factory diagnostics are by the floor on driver side....use a multimeter and experiment....12V constants are everywhere.

if I misunderstood if RED was constant and YELLOW REM just switch the advice....the constant should be connected and the REM should be connected as well!

If you are still checking this, have you had any success with the auxniss? I have read about it in other forums and a lot of people are having excess noise problems? How does yours sound now?
