View Full Version : Showcase 4G Question
A simple question: for those with the Showcase 4G how durable do you think the plastic/rubber hinge is? Also how hard (or soft) is the rubber/plastic at the hinge (and around the case if it is different from the hinge)?
Another thing, does the 20GB iPod wobble in the case even with the form insert?
Thanks!

NO! Great case! A little heavy but seems bullet proof!

I think the hinge inspires confidence; it's not really stressed at all anyway. It's the same hard rubber as the case itself, and it runs the length of the case. I can't speak for the foam insert; I have a 40gig.

The hinge and the latch are both very strong, and I trust them both. (The belt clip is also quite nice!)
My only complaint about the Showcase 4G is that the "grippy" rubber seems to attract (and hold on to) dirt quite well.
The 20Gb does move a little huh? I guess that the it wouldn't be too bad, as long as it doesn't shift all the time and get the iPod all scratched up at the places where the bumpers touches the iPod.

My 20 gig doesn't move at ALL inside the showcase as long as there's the insert in there. Very solid design.

The Showcase certainly looks a lot better than that. You have to note that the aluminum case only has a cutout for the screen so your there's nothing protecting the screen. The other thing with teh Showcase is that you can actually see your iPod.
Btw, thanks for the info guys, I'm probably going to run out and get myself one of the black ones this weekend.

Good point... It is tough, but I don't use that part more than once a day -- I use the quick release hook for all my on/off movements throughout the day. ;)

Yeah I have to get use to the new order of doing things! :D
btw, to all those ppl who worry about the 20g wobble: THERE IS NONE!!!!! That's what the foam insert is for !!!

NO WOBBLE!
the case is strong as hell. the rubber isn't soft, but it also feels like rubber. it has a tiny bit of 'give' in it, but not really. its durable as hell, not to mention a sexy ### case. a bit thicker than i thought, but if you dont mind it its still an awesome case.
i have complete faith in it. it wont break if i drop it. even the front clear plastic piece is thick and strong as hell. i trust my ipod completely in it.
All good news ;)
Now I just have to wait to get one. I went down to the store but they just happened to have sold the last one 5 min before I walked when :(. Now I have to wait about a week to them to get them instock again.

great.
its a sexy as hell case. i just got my new headphones (audio-technica ath-fc7). they have a black cable, and the black coming out of the black showcase with the white face only looks so damned fine.
