changing 2g ipod

ok lets start off by saying i got a 2g ipod case thats relatively new, but the components inside are pretty much dead.

i also have a 3g ipod motherboard, battery, and new HD and LCD

can i somehow put that stuff in the old case, and rig it so the firewire connector on the top of the 2g ipod is used, by converting the dock connector wiring???????

Beacause he has all the parts and the knowhow, therefor its somthing to do in their free time.
