What do I want to see? I want to see apple somehow integrating noise-cancelling technology into their iPods, so that we can listen to music in peace and quiet. No, I don't want to get those Bose headphones, mainly b/c they costs almost as much as an iPod itself. And i've tried almost every other set of headphones, and they are all pretty much useless (I do have to admit that I haven't tried the sony ones, with the exceptions of the "earplug" ones, which really suck).

I have Sennheiser 280 Pro headphones and they work great for all but the noisiest places. I guess the way I see it is that if it's too loud with those headphones on, something's probably going on that you need to pay more attention to than music anyway! :)

You know, there was a CNET article that atlked about dream mp3 features. They had someone with a neat idea that would use the microphone that many new mp3 players have to create noise cancelling for all headphones. This seems like a pretty tricky goal, though, seeing as the mic wouldn't be where the headphones are, and some headphones would be too "open" for it to work. Still a really innovative idea, though,. Apple could probably pull it off.

To my knowledge, Macally makes some noise cancelling headphones that run for about 70 bucks. Now I know Macally makes awesome peripherals, but about headphones I'm not quite sure, better look for a review?

I'm not a headphone expert or anything, but everywhere I've read says that sealed headphones sound much better than noise cancelling phones because so much of the cost of them goes to the noise cancelling electronics rather then the actual speaker part. Real technical terms, I know. Anyway, I've never used noise cancelling headphones, but my sealed ones are very nice.

What exactly are sealed headphones?

The ear cups are sealed so they don't let much noise in or out. It just keeps you from hearing everything going on in the real world and the rest of the world from hearing your music :)

It would be impossible to do that with a built in microphone. Even if the iPod had it, there would be too much difference between the sound at your ears and the sound at the microphone. It would take two microphones on each side, as close to the drivers as you could get them. Otherwise, the phase would not cancel out completley, and the music would sound weird. Sorry.

But I'm sure the NJB3 must do it, right?!

That sounds very interesting, I have only heard of noise-cancelling technology in headphones, not in the actual audio device.
